Type of your curl

The type of curl is what is firstly observed when we analyze the hair. Many biographies use numbers and letters to define the type of curl that goes from 1A, 1B, 1C, 1D, … until 4D, but this way of categorizing fails when we see that in the same head we can find up to 4 to 5 types of curl. Hence, we from Stuca decided to simplify in 3 types: wavy, curly and kinky.

ico-porosidade

Porosity

This characteristic is what defines how much the strand of hair is fit to absorb humidity and product. The characteristics of the hair cuticles and the thickness of it establish the porosity. The more open the cuticles are, the easier they absorb and lose humidity. In general, the more curly the hair is, the more open the cuticles are, hence why it needs more hydration.

ico-textura

Texture

The texture is established by the thickness of the strand that has a variation between 60 and 80 microns (80 microns = 0,08 millimeters). It’s because of texture that different touch sensations and hair behavior exist. There is a false impression that curly hair is thicker compared to straight hair, but it is actually the opposite.

Scalp

The characteristic of your scalp explains a lot about your hair. Flexibility of the scalp, oiliness, peeling processes or redness, quantity of strands by inch are all characteristics that should be observed. We should take really good care of our scalp because it is in there that the strands are generated and fixated.

Lifestyle

Your lifestyle should be taken into account when we talk about the care that we have to have with curly hair. Your day to day life, your preferences and even your personality, are factors that interfere with your hair and in the treatment of it. The cut using techniques of visagism, hygiene frequency and even the way you finish your hair should respect your lifestyle and rhythm and your personality.
